Mick Boogie and Al Fatz - Expect the Unexpected
From Issue #4 of Foundation Magazine
WORDS: Matt Mills
For a long time Cleveland’s presence in the game has been small and underground. Al Fatz could very well spark a reemergence from the home of the LeBron and the Cavaliers. In “Expect the Unexpected” Mick Boogie compiles an excellent flavor for Al’s unique but contagious style.
Given the right production team and celebrity presence on Fatz’s upcoming album it wouldn’t be shocking to see the spotlights start shining. The artist formerly known as “Fat Al” has underground and main stream appeal along with the ability to flow on almost any kind of beat. He also has the uncanny ability to almost unnoticeably uphold a Midwest swagger that could ultimately turn into nationwide appeal.
“Expect the Unexpected” is easy and fun to get through, so much so that I was able to listen to it straight through the first time. It rightly displays Al’s presence and capacity as a performer and has excellent production across the board. Minus some long interludes of talking smack Mick Boogie and Al are getting somewhere that is worth noticing.
