DJ Warrior - Caltroit (Bishop Lamont & Black Milk)

From Issue #5 of Foundation Magazine

WORDS: Dan ‘Batman’ Montgomery

Who would of thought of this shit? Aftermath and Fat Beats, a unthinkable but hard body combination. The chemistry between Bishop and Black would make you think these two artists grew up in the same hood. Plus a tape boasting features from artists such as Dr. Dre, Stat Quo, Busta Rhymes, Guilty Simpson, Ras Kass, Slum Village, Mistah F.A.B., Glasses Malone, Planet Asia, Royce Da 5’9”, Kardinal Offishal and too many more to name! The track “Innconvient Truth” expresses the duo’s feeling on the current status of Hip-Hop, which is what we’ve been waiting for. Where as “Go Hard Feat. Ras Kass & Royce Da 5’9” is a mixape rappers nightmare, straight punchlines galore. Bishop Lamont & Black Milk really hold the balance between underground and mainstream while pushing the envelope artistically. One of my small compliants though has to be all these features don’t always help the cause on this project, a few artists just can’t keep up lyrically or style-wise. Over all there’s something for any and everyone on this mixtape, so cop it!
